More about Sophie
Sophie's jam was born following a trip to the family farm in France a few springs ago where Sophie rekindled with her roots. There she found great interest in learning all about the French strawberries grown on the farm, enjoyed making jam with her sisters, and returned to southern California, her home for the past 20+ years, equipped with her mother's gift: a copper jam pot that has been in her mother's family for four generations. Her competitive spirit then kicked in and the quest for making the best strawberry jam started. Over the summer she searched the local farms and markets for the most delicious strawberries. Along the way Sophie's jam has been the object of international tasting, finding its way twice to the French family. She did not let the initial French rating discourage her and her efforts paid off as she eventually garnered 30% of the votes from the family on her 2nd tasting! Quite a feat: the French palate has high expectations! As she refined her recipe and process, she now gets raving feedback from local friends, family and customers who have tasted it.
The strawberry success sparked something bigger: a whole line of small-batch jams built around what California's farms do best. Apricot and peach have joined strawberry in the lineup, each made with the same three-ingredient recipe and the same family copper pot. True to the seasonal rhythm of California produce, more flavors are already on the horizon as new fruit comes into season throughout the year.
